  34. 256=2^8, numerical work involving powers of 2 are optimised (with the
  35. pro compiler) by shifting the variable in memory however many bits. If
  36. you don't understand this, then all you need to know is that it's much
  37. faster and can be used instead of very slow floating point numbers.
